ENGINE COMPANY NO. 33 NEW YORK

Built as the headquarters of the New York City Fire Department, this perfect example of the French Beaux Arts style was the creation of Ernest Flagg, who designed several of the citys firehouses. The street is called Great Jones to avoid confusion with the block-long Jones Street in Greenwich Village between Bleecker and West Fourth Streets, or nearby Jones Alley, connected to it via Shinbone Alley south of Bond Street.
