Recipe for Dinner
Prepare as for Drunken Pears but substitute cider for the wine and peeled red (soft fleshed) eating (dessert) apples for the pears.
Nectarines in Wine
15 ml/1 tbsp light brown sugar
5 ml/1 tsp lemon juice 300 ml/1/2 pt/l1/2 cups white wine
4 nectarines, peeled
Dissolve the sugar and lemon juice in the wine over a gentle heat. Cut a slice off the bottom of the nectarines so that they stand upright, if liked. Stand them in a deep dish and pour over the wine. Cover with foil or a lid. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C/325°F/gas mark 3 for 30 minutes.
