For the modern family Of contemporary style, these arresting front and rear gardens make a strong design statement family home met with Josh Hooper of Landscape Techniques they already had a few design ideas of their own, and some specific requests. Chiefly, they wanted a large lawn and family-sized swimming pool in the rear garden, an eye-catching, well-lit front garden, and a palette of plants and materials that suited the modern architecture of the house. As Josh Hooper was brought on board before the home was built, Landscape Techniques was able to get onsite before work began on the house. This allowed the team to complete the extensive concrete sleeper walling that frames the property and allowed for the introduction of usable level areas. In the rear garden, Landscape Techniques built some smaller rendered masonry walls. To match the colour of the house, the walls were painted in Resene Double White Pointer The swimming pool and outdoor living areas were paved in sawn bluestone tiles which are contrasted by the light-blue pool tiles and bright-green foliage of the bamboo planted along one side of the pool. The outdoor entertaining space is covered by a louvre-style roof that allows plenty of light through to the home’s open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge room.
