With more than 3 million square feet of rentable space, this was the largest commercial office building in the world when it was built. Only the Pentagon had more space. It consumed four small city blocks, in return for which the developer, Uris Brothers, agreed to rebuild Jeanette Park to its east. It is an unremarkable public space with nothing to recommend but the nearly forgotten seventyfoot New York Vietnam Veterans Memorial, designed by M. Paul Friedberg & Associates.
